Portland Road Trip…Day 2 Part 2

We still had about a half hour before we got to Portland and almost the whole drive the road follows the Snake River until it turns into the Columbia river several hours outside of Portland.  The closer we got to Portland the wider the river got.  It was amazing, the only other river that was close to that wide that I’ve is the Mississippi River.  We saw sail boats, bridges (lots of bridges), and barges (is that what they’re called?!)  We also stopped in Rufus (I thought it was a funny name for a town, reminds me of a dogs name).

We finally made it to Portland and got lost a few times when we were looking for our hotel (the phone company took the internet off our phones, that’s another story though).  It was about 4 or 5 when we got to our hotel, so we still had time to do something that night.  We decided it would be fun to go to the OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry).  They have a lot of hands on things you can do, Tyson loved it!!!  I forgot to take pictures, so I found these online.  They also had an exibit about pregnancy and the stages the fetus goes through.  At first we thought the fetuses were plastic, but the more we looked, the more real they looked.  We got about a third of the way through, then we saw a sign that said they were all real and that they died of natural causes.  There was a fetus for each week, so 40.  I think the mothers died too.  That’s a lot of babies and people that died.  Too creepy and sad to finish, needless to say we didn’t get any pictures.

This ended day 2 of our trip…
